CLAFLIN-SLEEPER DINING HALL
273-275 Babcock Street
Boston University
Boston, Massachusetts

The challenge of this project was to integrate the dining areas of two residence halls on Boston University’s West Campus to create a unified dining experience. The halls were originally designed as separate men’s and women’s dormitories, each with its own dining facilities. They now share an innovative dining space featuring an open-view "euro" kitchen so diners can see the chefs in action, as well as food and condiment stations arranged to allow students a variety of choices such as fresh pizza and hot entrées cooked to order. The dining area is refined with elegant finishes, graphics, signage and lighting to evoke the ambiance of a comfortable café rather than a college cafeteria.
