85 East Concord Street, known as the Surgical Building, is situated in the heart of Boston Medical Center and had been vacant for over a decade. Beacon Architectural Associates was asked to renovate this historic ten-story building to accommodate offices for the Medical Center. The restoration entailed detail preservation techniques and the introduction of modern mechanical systems, as well as incorporating convalescent terraces into the floor plan. The renovated building provides the Boston Medical Center with 65,000 square feet of office space.
