GEORGETOWN PEABODY LIBRARY Georgetown, Massachusetts The renovation and expansion of the historic Peabody Library in Georgetown, MA will address the needs of this growing town by more than doubling the library area to 18,000 square feet. The two story addition complements the original Georgian style building and responds to the neighborhood context while providing a new accessible public entrance to the library. The exterior of the addition will match the scale and materials of the existing library and the new west facade recalls the original library. Site improvements will include expanded parking and landscaping to give focus to the green behind the library. The library and green together will create a municipal center that reinforces the historic downtown of Georgetown. Construction is anticipated to be completed in 2007. Designed in association with Adams & Smith Architects. |
