Using the existing foundation of a former car dealership, Beacon Architectural Associates created a six-story dormitory for Boston University. This building, which provides housing for 150 students on five floors, was designed with the future in mind: the fifty suites can be converted into apartments with a minimal amount of effort. Each suite has three bedrooms, a living room, compartmented bathroom, and its own heating and ventilation system. The plumbing is in place for a future kitchen, so the units can be transformed into fully-equipped two-bedroom, 750 square foot apartments. A comfortable reception area and commercial space at the building’s street level complete the design.
