SLOANE HOUSE
Boston University
Brookline, Massachusetts

This historic property was renovated to provide residential accommodations for the President of Boston University. The challenges of this project were three-fold. First, the building needed appropriate space for entertaining large numbers of students. Second, the house must maintain an intimate domestic environment for the president’s family. Finally, the structure had to remain in character with the rest of the neighborhood. This renovation encompassed complete structural rehabilitation, including new plumbing, air conditioning, and ventilation systems. The end result is a dignified but livable home that sensitively reflects the character of its surroundings.
